The vehicle of Zekai Aksakallı was blocked
Special Forces Commander Zekai Aksakallı left after the critical meeting at the General Staff Headquarters at 19:00, and left Gazi Military Officer’s Club, where he went for his friend’s wedding, around 21:30. Aksakallı’s vehicle was blocked as he was heading towards the main road. Aksakallı escaped the ambush before he was detained and headed to a safe house in the vicinity of the Military Academy. Around 23:45, a helicopter carried out a missile attack against the security team which was on its way to collect General Aksakallı, at the entrance of the sports school. Approximately 10 minutes after this attack, Aksakallı called Adana Division Commander Major General Osman Erbaş and told him that Incirlik was critical and that he had to be cautious.
