Simultaneous raids started in Istanbul

Raids started within the framework of the “Operation Lightening” plan. In the attempt that was commenced within the framework of the “Operation Lightening” plan, simultaneous raids on many centers in Istanbul started. The first target of the coup plotters was the Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM). Another important location targeted by the coup plotters was Istanbul Governorate. Putschist soldiers from the 47th Motorized Infantry Regiment in Esenler set out to occupy the Istanbul Governorate building.
