Assassination squad fled the region
The assassination squad that raided the hotel in Marmaris, where President Erdoğan was at the first hours of the coup attempt, fled the region. The assassination squad formed by 37 people escaped in two separate groups after the coup attempt failed and disappeared without trace. The assassination squad was led by putschist brigadier general Sönmezateş.
